On Windows 10, you usually choose the default language for the device during the setup process. However, if you selected the wrong language settings, or you're using a preconfigured device, you don't have to struggle with the incorrect settings when your requirements are different.
Jump to Windows XP / Windows Server 2003 - Typing in Indian Languages in Windows XP & Server 2003. Option Install files for Complex Script and right-to-left languages (including Thai). Add Language Dialog Box in Windows XP. Some of you need to run Windows XP with his own language other than English (The default). So, this is a program which contains about 28 Language Packs for Windows XP SP3. You can switch between languages with one click without restarting your computer. This is the program interface.
If you have to change the language settings on your computer, you can quickly perform this task using the Settings app, without having to reinstall Windows 10 from scratch.
In this Windows 10 guide, we'll walk you through the steps to change the system default language, including for existing and new accounts.
How to change default system language on Windows 10
If you recently moved to another region, or you're using your device with the wrong language configuration, you don't need to reinstall Windows 10. You only need to change a few settings to set the correct system language.
Disabling language sync
When you use a Microsoft account on Windows 10, the language settings will sync across devices. In the case that you're planning to change the region and language settings for only one computer, you should disable the option to sync these settings before making any changes to prevent the new configuration from overwriting the settings on your other devices.
To disable language syncing on Windows 10, use these steps:
- Open Settings.
- Click on Accounts.
- Click on Sync your settings.
Under the 'Individual sync settings' section, turn off the 'Language preferences' toggle switch.

Once you complete the steps, you can change the language settings without affecting the settings on other devices.
Changing system language
To change the system language on Windows 10, close any running app, and then use these steps:
- Open Settings.
- Click on Time & Language.
- Click on Language.
Under the 'Preferred languages' section, click the Add a preferred language button.

- Search for the language you want on Windows 10.
Select the language package from the result.

- Click the Next button.
- Check the Set as my display language option.
- Check the Install language pack option.
- Check or clear the additional language features as needed.
Click the Install button.

Click the Yes, sign out now button.

- Sign back into the Windows 10 account.
After you complete the steps, the language will change across the entire Windows 10 experience. The new changes will be reflected in the Sign-in screen, Settings app, File Explorer, Desktop, apps, browser, and websites you visit. Also, depending on your new settings, Windows 10 may prompt you to review your privacy settings again.
Changing region settings
If you're changing the system language because you're located in a different region, you'll also need to update the region settings.
To change the local region settings on Windows 10, use these steps:
- Open Settings.
- Click on Time & Language.
- Click on Region.
- Use the 'Country or region' drop-down menu to select your geographical location if different from your current settings.
Under the 'Regional format' section, use the drop-down menu to select the correct formats for dates and times if different from your region.

- Click on Language on the left pane.
Under the 'Related settings' section, in the right pane, click the Administrative language settings option.
Source: Windows Central
In the 'Administrative' tab, click the Copy settings button.
Source: Windows Central
Under the 'Copy your current settings to' section, check the Welcome screen and system accounts and New user accounts options.
Source: Windows Central
- Click the OK button.
- Click the OK button again.
- Click the Restart now button.
Once you complete the steps, the device will display the correct region settings according to your physical location.
Usually, you will never need to change or install additional languages. The ability to adjust these settings generally comes in handy on small and large organizations working with users who may have different language preferences.
Also, this feature will be useful in those situations when you move to another region, and you want to match the local settings. Or when buying a new computer that ships from a different country, because it's not locally available.
Remember that when changing the language settings, you may lose the ability to use Cortana, as the digital assistant is not supported in most regions.

-->The following tables show the supported language packs for Windows 10 and Windows Server, and supported language interface packs (LIPs) for Windows 10. LIPs are available for Windows 10, but are not available for Windows Server. For more information, see Language packs.
The version of the language, LIP, or Feature on Demand must match the version number. For example, you can neither add a Windows 10 version 1809 LIP to Windows 10 version 1803 image, nor add a Windows Server 2019 language pack to Windows Server 2016.

You cannot add languages to Windows 10 Home Single Language and Windows 10 Home Country Specific editions.
To learn how to add languages to Windows, or where to get them, see Where to get language packs and LIPs.
For a complete list of supported languages and locales, see Locale Identifier Constants and Strings.
Supported Language Packs and Language Interface Packs
The following tables include these settings:
- Language/region- The name of the language that will be displayed in the UI. All 38 language packs are available for Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016. In Windows Server 2012 the user interface (UI) is localized only for the 18 languages listed in bold.
- Language/region tag- The language identifier based on the language tagging conventions of RFC 3066. This setting is used with the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool, or in an unattended answer file.
- Language/region ID- The hexadecimal representation of the language identifier. This setting is used with the keyboard identifier when specifying an input method using DISM.
- Language/region decimal identifier- The decimal representation of the language identifier. This setting is used in Oobe.xml.
