Job Description Summary:

Serve as Instructor for KINE/PHED section pertaining to Color Guard and serve as primary Color Guard instructor during Summer Band Camp.

Essential Duties :

2. Work in conjunction with the Director of Bands and Assistant Director of Bands in Marching Band rehearsals and events.
3. Design and/or make recommendations on Color Guard related equipment/wardrobe acquisitions.
4. Recruit incoming students for the upcoming year. This may include, but not limited to, phone/email correspondence with high school directors and students, scheduling visits to Blinn College campus for students, and preparing/running audition camps for prospective and incoming students.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Bachelor’s degree in music or dance or kinesiology or activity related area and demonstrated proficiency and experience in color guard, dance team, or drill team.
2. Significant performance and Teaching Experience in Color Guard
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the other instructors, staff, administration and students.
4. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Color Guard, both in choreography and execution as well as current practices and trends.
5. In-depth knowledge of the band literature
6. Ability to run effective and safe rehearsals/practices

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Recruitment and program development experience preferred.
2. Public school and/or college marching band teaching experience strongly preferred.
3. Two years secondary or post-secondary teaching experience or comparable military experience preferred.
